Can we do an extended family and then break out into individual families in one session? No. We will separate into other combinations though: • Entire group. • Grandparents with grandkids. • Grandparents alone. • Grandparents with their children. • All of their children together. • Children with grandchildren. • All grandchildren. • All boys. • All girls. Essentially, we will split into any group configuration EXCEPT separating by families.

How should I prepare for a newborn session? We assume that the newborn hasn't worked out a regular schedule during the first two weeks so don't worry too much about the time of day. However, it's important to be strategic about what you do before your session begins. You want to travel to the studio with your newborn in clothes that are simple and easy to remove. When you arrive, we will decide what outfit we want to start with - often, it's just one of our diaper covers. Put them in that outfit and then feed them. The idea is that the clothes-changing will bother the newborn but the feeding will calm them and even put them to sleep. With that said, don't feed them right before you drive to the studio - we want them to be a bit hungry before their session so they'll feed and calm themselves. The key is to arrive at the studio early enough to do our recommended pre-session newborn routine. Another thing to consider with newborns. Newborns are very good at sensing your energy. If you are stressed, your baby senses it and will become tense. Before the session and during, please try to relax. Feel comfortable that we know what we're doing and will be able to deliver the images you're hoping for. Even if your newborn gets upset, this is normal and we're able to calm newborns. We're magical at it. Grandparents sometimes are present to help with the session. We are great with it and welcome them. However, if their presence makes you more stressed, ask them to stay home. Again, your baby has mind-reading skills and can sense it.

I'm missing some of the images that the photographer captured. Why?During the editing process, the photographer will be able to look closely at the images. Very rarely, the photographer will see that the image is out of focus/has motion blur or some other issue with the image. It's why, with each pose, we will take at least two images to decrease the chances of this happening. The photographers always send through any image that adds value to the session.

How long do you keep copies of our pictures? We will keep the RAW images from your session for one week. Please download your images within that first week. Be sure to back up your images and save them in a second location for safekeeping. Hard drives crash often. You always want your image to exist in two separate locations.

How long does a session last?Almost all sessions last 45 minutes. We've found that is the magical number of minutes that most small children can keep a happy mood...

How soon should I bring my newborn in after he/she is born? The first two weeks are a very good period for newborns. They are more sleepy and cooperative. Frankly, we'd love to see them the first week! After the second week, they become more aware of their surroundings and condition. They start thinking, "Why am I not eating?? Where are my clothes? I refuse to be changed again!! I think I'm cold now!"

Any thoughts about what we should wear? When deciding on an outfit, see what you look like standing and sitting to see if you like both. Often, an outfit will look okay when you're standing but not when you're sitting. If you're self-conscious about a body part, experiment with options that cover that part. For example, if you're concerned about your arms, consider a top with sleeves. Shadows are slimming and we take advantage of that. Our lights are pointed from the side - so, wearing a vest or sweater that will throw a shadow across your body is an advantage. Horizontal stripes are discouraged if you're wanting to appear slimmer. Choose vertical stripes instead. Darker clothes are slimming. I personally don't like it when everyone where's the same color and that color is dominant (so, white or black or grey would work). If everyone is wearing the same shade of green, I don't think it looks as good. Different shades of the same color looks better. I recommend you choose colors/styles that are COMPLIMENTARY but don't match. For example, earth tones would be a good choice. Pay attention to shoes. Often, a family will arrive and the mom will notice that the shoes her boys have chosen don't work. Very worn or bright colored shoes can really distract - especially when it doesn't match the outfit. We always check but do a once-over of everyone before you begin your session. Are buttons buttoned? Does dad have a bunch of stuff in his pockets? Does your daughter have a hair-band around her wrist? Do you want your son wearing that bracelet?

What are the benefits of printing through FotoFly?The primary reason is that our prints will match the electronic image you love. Other companies do not carefully adjust their printers to match the image. If you want true color and the highest quality, print through FotoFly.
-
Is there a photographer who is better for certain types of sessions? All of our photographers have completed the FotoFly training. (More than 50% of those who begin do not make it through the initial training - you may find those photographers at our competitors...) This training is thorough and includes every type of session. Our new photographers are shadowed by an experienced photographer until we are convinced that they are good at each type of session.
